I THOUGHT up this idea in 1984. I went on a roller-coaster ride which had been really hyped up by the press but it did not live up to the hype in my opinion.
I thought how a much better ride would be to have a capsule racing through a tube with video screen images shown to the passengers.
From there my idea progressed to having the capsule float on a cushion of repelling magnets. The cost of this would have been too much for the pleasure ride option but I thought it would make a great transport system.
I used the idea of a train running on repelling magnets inside a tube. The tube would have the air sucked out so there would be no wind resistance.
The hand drawn sketches (see below) show my other ideas to power the system. Some of these are being used today, such as wind turbines at sea. I sent this idea to the British Government in 1991 and I had replies from Mrs Thatcher (see below right) and Michael Heseltine. No more was heard after that, but in 2010 I saw the 'Atlantic Maglev Train' on the internet. It is almost exactly the same idea as the one I sent to the Government 20 years ago.
The designer of the 'Atlantic Maglev Train' worked on the Channel Tunnel at the same time as I sent the Government my idea. Maybe they showed him my idea or maybe he just came up with the same idea as me? What is pleasing is that myself in the UK as a schoolboy and an engineer from MIT in the USA came up with the same revolutionary idea. Apparently the idea would work but the old money factor is the barrier.
However, as I have mentioned in the Planetician section of this website, the Earth won't charge us for the materials, it is just us humans who put up the barriers of money. We have the technology to achieve anything, we have the time, we have the food, we have the people with the brains and most importantly we don't need the money, it does not need to exist to build our Planet's infrastructure and climate stability systems.
All our problems need not exist as it is only us humans who put up the barriers. It's a no brainer! Share this with the world, our future could be so secure. No more fear of possible catastrophe.
The Past has gone but we can learn from it, the present is here to evaluate, the future is where we must SEE!
